Chalo is looking for an Android Engineer to build and scale products that make bus travel simpler and more seamless. Join us to solve real-world mobility challenges at scale.

What you’ll do:
  • Work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and other engineering teams to own features end-to-end — from understanding requirements and designing the solution to development, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Build Android applications that solve real-world, on-ground mobility challenges and deliver a seamless product experience.
  • Design and implement solutions across application architecture, data storage, API integrations, networking, and user interface.
  • Write clean, scalable, maintainable, and high-quality code, with a strong focus on performance and minimising bugs.
  • Maintain high engineering standards across the codebase, delivery timelines, testing, and collaboration.
  • Take complete ownership of the work being delivered — proactively identify problems, drive solutions, and ensure timely closure.
  • Participate in debugging, code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Competencies:
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in the relevant field.
  • Android Knowledge: Strong understanding of Android components, UI development, networking, threading, debugging, dependency injection, reusability, and modern architectural practices such as MVVM/MVI.
  • Problem Solver: Thinks methodically, breaks down complex problems, and develops practical solutions.
  • Detail Oriented: Pays attention to details, considers edge cases, and proactively identifies and prevents bugs.
  • Learnability: Curious and self-driven, with a passion for learning new technologies and solving problems independently.
  • Proactive: Takes initiative, identifies opportunities, and drives them to completion.
  • Team Player: Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and contributes to a positive engineering culture.
  • Coachable: Open to feedback, learns from others, and continuously works on improving their craft.
